Research strands
Whilst foregrounding one or the other of these layers in our empirical work, all teams will cover aspects of all three elements in their research. Strong attention to translocal and multicultural aspects of the external borders will prevent fragmentation, and underpin comparability of results.
We believe that we will be able to carry out this complex and challenging work because all members of the consortium bring to the task a substantive amount of scientific and insider knowledge of their particular research sites, as well as a willingness to explore new avenues of theoretical and empirical research in a comparative multi-disciplinary framework. This will allow us to devise complementary and comparative research strategies with methodologies drawn from the social sciences and the humanities.
